Best of Paris - Louvre Museum and Notre Dame Island Walking Tour with Sainte Chapelle

Spend your day enjoying two of the major institutions of Paris, Sainte Chapelle and the Louvre Museum. 

Start your day with a short walking tour in the heart of Paris where the city was founded, Notre Dame Island, also known as the Ile de la Cité.  Stroll along the Seine River and admire the Conciergerie, prison and last home of Marie Antoinette.

Then your guide will show you the visually stunning Notre Dame Cathedral with its flying buttresses and gothic architecture. See for yourself why Victor Hugo chose this monument as the setting for his widely-acclaimed novel, The Hunchback of Notre Dame. And learn the intriguing backstory of how this captivating cathedral came to be. 

Your guide will unfold the histories and mysteries forever captured within these walls, from days of antiquity to the present. Once you’ve admired the exterior of this impressive edifice, the tour will continue to nearby Sainte Chapelle where you’ll be whisked past the crowds with Skip-the-Line access and straight into this hidden wonder of Paris.

At midday, you will be given free time to enjoy lunch on your own.  Our guides will be there to assist you with recommendations.  Then it’s a short walk to one of the world’s greatest museums, the Louvre – another must see for any visitor to Paris.   Housing one of the world’s greatest and largest collections of artworks (35,000 pieces on show and another million in the basement!), some of the world’s most famous pieces are in the Louvre.  Your expert guide will lead you straight past the long lines, through the crowds and straight to the best masterpieces, bringing the art to life with stories of the artists and their lives. Marvel at the beauty of the Venus de Milo and the splendor of the Victory of Samothrace. See Michelangelo’s slaves, and of course the Mona Lisa, probably the most famous painting in the world.  Now is your chance to decide for yourself who she really is, and why she has that enigmatic smile.

Important: Due to renovation work being carried out within the Louvre Museum until mid-October 2019, some artwork may not be covered by the guide (such as the Mona Lisa), this is beyond our control and your guide will do their best to provide the same level of service for the tour described.

Tour Information

Tour Availability: Every Monday, Wednesday & Friday between April and October and Mondays and Fridays only between November and March.

Tour Departure Time: 9.30AM at the Notre Dame & 2.30PM at The Louvre.

Meeting Time: 9.15AM at the Notre Dame & 2.15PM at The Louvre.

Duration: 7.25 HRS (2 hour guided visit of Notre Dame, 2.25 hours for lunch, 3 hour guided visit of the Louvre Museum)

Important Information:

Notre Dame:

• The morning tour of Notre Dame Island and Sainte Chapelle ends around 11:30.

• Entrance into religious sites requires a strict dress code. Knees and shoulders MUST be covered for both men and women. City Wonders cannot be held responsible for refused entry due to improper dress.

• Photography is permitted throughout the tour, except in Sainte Chapelle where only non-flash photography is allowed.

• Some sites visited lack shade and can be hot under direct sunlight. We recommend bringing a hat, sunscreen and a bottle of water in warm weather.

Louvre:

• The afternoon tour of the Louvre Museum ends around 17:30.                                                                                                                      • Non-flash photography is permitted throughout the tour.                                                                                                                                                • Please note that many sections of the museum are not air-conditioned (as A/C is not standard practice in France).     

• Please note that parties of 7 or more people may be split in different groups on the day of the tour at the meeting point.
