While The Queen makes her annual summer visit to Scotland, the magnificent Buckingham Palace State Rooms are opened up for visitors to venture behind the scenes and get a glimpse into the lives of the Royals. The State Rooms are the heart of the Palace, and are used by the Royal Family to receive and entertain guests on State, ceremonial and official occasions

The Queen's Gallery

The £20-million expansion of The Queen’s Gallery was the most significant addition to Buckingham Palace in 150 years. The Queen’s Gallery was opened by Her Majesty The Queen in May 2002, as part of the Golden Jubilee celebrations. It hosts a programme of changing exhibitions from the Royal Collection. Current exhibitions available to see are:

Visit the largest Leonardo da Vinci exhibition in over 65 years as The Queen's Gallery brings together over 200 of his drawings to mark the 500th anniversary of his death.

Important: During admission to the attraction, all visitors will pass through airport-style security checks. Visitors should arrive with one small bag where possible to ensure an efficient entry process.

On arrival, you and your belongings will be subject to airport-style security checks. Some items, such as large bags or backpacks, will have to be checked in and reclaimed at the end of the visit.

The Queen's Gallery is fully accessible and welcome visitors with different access requirements. For visitors with disabilities and an accompanying companion is admitted free of charge.

Manual wheelchairs are available to borrow free of charge on a first come, first served basis for the duration of a visit.
Mobility scooters can be used in the Gallery, providing they are compatible with the lift which measures 145cm in depth by 82cm in width and has a weight limit of 100kg

Ticket Information

Opening Dates: Open year round excluding 25-26 December each year and 13 November – 7 December 2017. The opening arrangements for Official Residences may change at short notice, please ensure you check the Royal Collection Trust website for the latest closed dates before your visit.

Opening Times: Open daily, 10:00-17:30 (last admission 16:15). During Buckingham Palace Summer Opening (21 July - 30 September 2018), open daily 9:30-17:30 (last admission 16:15). Early Closure on 24 December closing at 16:00 (last admission 14:45). If you are visiting the exhibition late in the afternoon, please be aware of shorter viewing times.

Duration: A typical visit lasts 1-1.5 hours approx.

Transport: Nearest Train Station is London Victoria. Nearest Underground: Victoria, Green Park and Hyde Park Corner. Bus Numbers 11, 211, C1 and C10 stop on Buckingham Palace Road.

Additional Information: A valid form of ID is required upon arrival when purchasing a Senior ticket for over 60 years or Student ticket (International Student or NUS identity card). Manual wheelchairs are available to borrow free of charge on a first come, first served basis for the duration of a visit. Mobility scooters can be used in the Gallery, providing they are compatible with the lift which measures 145cm in depth by 82cm in width and has a weight limit of 100kg. Children under the age of 12 years must be accompanied by an adult over the age of 17. For safety reasons, you may be required to deposit all baggage and other items into the security cloakrooms during your visit. The use of photographic, film and video equipment is not permitted inside the Gallery.
