City Sightseeing Oslo - Hop on Hop off

Oslo, the oldest of the Scandinavian Capitals, was founded by Harald Hadrade in the 11th Century and is surrounded by breathtaking mountains at the head of a 70 mile fjord. Oslo is an easy-going city where history meets modernity. The city boasts world-class museums, a lively nightlife and plenty of outdoor activities and many locals are keen hikers, skiers or sailors. See the city from the top deck of an open top bus and enjoy great views of the city. Hop on and off at your leisure at conveniently located stops around the city.

Hop off at the Ibsen Museum, which is dedicated to the 19th-century Norwegian playwright, theatre director, and poet Henrik Ibsen. The museum shows Ibsen's refurbished apartment where he lived in his later life until his death in 1906 and an exhibition space showcasing displays relating to his work. The Royal Palace was built in the first half of the 19th century as the residence of Norwegian and Swedish king Charles III and is the official residence of the present Norwegian Monarch. Watch the changing of the guard and enjoy the surrounding parkland which is open to the public. Take the bus tour to Akershus Slott (Akershus Castle) to discover the fortified fort’s history, enjoy stunning views from the top of the fortress and meander through the beautiful grounds.

Explore the Viking Ship Museum where you can admire the recovered ancient ships, made by skilled 13th century craftsmen, and learn about Viking life. Delight in the Fram & Norwegian Maritime Museum which was founded in 1914 and houses exhibits on coast culture and maritime history including boat models, fishing, marine archaeology, marine paintings and ship building. The park portrays Gustave Vigeland's observation of the themes of life and relationships. The Oslo Opera House is a new landmark in the city as it was just built in 2008. The venue also offers open-air concerts as well as fantastic views of the city if you master the climb of the sloping rooftops! Fans of architecture will also enjoy the trendiness of Aker Brygge, a shopping centre and former shipyard.
