From families to fishermen, animal lovers to marine science buffs, the Miami Seaquarium offers a full-day of inspiration, education and fun.Highlights- Meet America's most famous dolphin: Flipper - Admire the beautiful marine life - Make new friends at Miami Seaquarium Opened in 1955, the Seaquarium is one of the country’s first marine parks and has a retro charm. Check out the funky Golden Dome Stadium designed by legendary architect Buckminster Fuller. The geodesic dome structure has become a Miami landmark. The real stars swim inside the stadium: Salty the Sea Lion and his Reef Rangers. Laugh and learn during this hilarious show featuring these loveable rascals who comb the reef in search of a littering diver. This is just one of eight different marine animal shows. Meet television’s favourite dolphin and the first-name in marine life: Flipper. In the 1960s, the legendary television show “Flipper” was filmed at Seaquarium. During the Flipper Dolphin Show, watch Flipper and other Atlantic bottlenose dolphins jump, spin, walk on their tales, and, of course, flip in the very same lagoon where the show was filmed. Classic beach tunes accompany this fun show that is a flashback for parents and new discovery for kids. The fun continues with Lolita the Killer Whale who performs alongside Pacific white-sided dolphins. Visit the Tropical Reef, a 750,000 gallon saltwater aquarium. Watch with wonder the natural, spontaneous show that takes place at feeding time when tropical fish, stingrays, eels and more are clamouring for a bite to eat. Take advantage of the rare opportunity to see an endangered manatee. Even before the park’s inauguration, park workers were already taking care of endangered marine life. Little Mamie, an orphaned baby manatee, was the first of many animals that the Seaquarium has rescued and rehabilitated. Get up close and personal with the sea’s most alarming creature in the Shark Channel, one of the park’s original and still fascinating exhibits. Spend an enlightening and entertaining day at the park often credited with increasing our awareness and encouraging preservation of marine life.
