Pompeii and Herculaneum - from Naples

Don't miss this opportunity to visit both Herculaneum and Pompeii, possibly the most well preserved example of a Roman residential town in the world.

You will start with a visit to the world famous Pompeii. The tour of Pompeii is approximately two hours in duration and will include all the sights of daily life in the ancient city. Amongst other things you will see the large theatre , the Necropolis, thermal baths and some of the msot amazing houses that were owned by the richest residents. This is simply unmissable if visiting this apart of Italy! After the guided visit of Pompeii you will then be able to take in a Cameo and Corals factory which is very close to the ruins and be able to observe the manufacturing process and even do some shopping! The stop here will only be approximately 30 mins.

You will also be able to sample a light lunch at restaurant Vesuvius which is reachable on foot.

After all this excitement it’s onto Herculaneum, a residential coastal town which has been superbly preserved beneath the volcanic mud which rained down upon the city during the eruption of Vesuvius in 79 AD. It is possible to visualise how life used to be here even more so than in Pompeii as the mud and volcanic debris that covered the city preserved the structures and artifacts of Herculaneum incredibly well. The buildings in Herculaneum have been so well preserved that you can walk down streets which are pretty much unchanged from Roman times of more than 2000 years ago and you will even have free time to view the town before the guided tour begins. You'll see many of the buildings, like the House of the Argus and the public baths, with preserved frescoes and mosaics, and a house full of carbonised furniture!

You will then return to Naples after a fantastic day immersing yourself in wonderful history.
