Santana Tour

A great tour for those wanting to explore some of Madeira’s most beautiful natural sights and culture.

The tour starts with a drive up the “Carreiras” road towards the 3rd highest peak in Madeira – Pico do Arieiro which stands at 1818m (if the weather does not permit, you will visit the village of Porto da Cruz).

The tour then continues on to Ribeiro Frio, a Natural Park, where there will be the opportunity to do the Balcões levada walk.

Later in the day you will move on to Santana. You will visit the centre of the village and see the typical thatched-roofed houses.

The final stop of the day will be Ponta de São Lourenço which is the eastern extremity of the island and offers magnificent views – the perfect opportunity to take your last few photos on the tour!

Tour Information

Tour Availability: This tour operates on Tuesdays and Saturdays only.

Departure: Hotel pickup is included. If possible this will be from the hotel entrance (if the road does not allow the bus/minibus to pass, pick up from the nearest point to the hotel) .

For hotels outside the Funchal and Caniço areas the departure for the tour will be from the company office.

The tour will end where it began – either at your hotel or the company office.

Departure Time: Approximately between 08:30/09:00 depending on the number of guests and hotels.

Finish Time: Approximately at 17h00/ 17:30.

Duration: Approximately 8 hours.

Inclusions: Admission costs are included in the price of the tour. Lunch is also included in the price of the tour and will consist of soup, main dish, one drink, dessert, and coffee.

Exclusions: Any other services not mentioned above.

Additional Information: Comfortable clothing (summer and a cardigan), adequate footwear, sun cream and a hat are recommended for this excursion. Transport for the tour will be a minibus or coach depending on the number of passengers on the tour.

On a minibus the driver will be the guide, on a coach there will be a guide in addition to the driver. Guides will be English speaking.
